Norway's largest stave church is run by the local church council, and tickets are sold in Kafe Olea beside the church. Admission is NOK 110 for adults, NOK 30 for children under 16 and NOK 60 for students, with no separate honnor rate published. The ticket includes a short guided talk in Norwegian or English and the themed exhibitions in the old barn. The 2026 visitor season ran from 18 May to 13 September, so the interior is closed now, although the exterior and churchyard can still be seen; the church normally reopens to visitors in mid to late May. On service Sundays it opens to visitors only from about 12:15, and Saturdays can close at short notice for weddings.

The planner warns of freezing in January, February, December. Outside those months it says nothing, which is the point — a warning that fires every day is one nobody reads.
Short days. Kristiansand, Telemark & the south gives under 6 hours of daylight in December.
