The World Heritage rock carvings at Hjemmeluft are reached through the Alta Museum, and one ticket covers the museum and the outdoor trail. Summer prices apply from 1 May to 30 September: NOK 175 for adults, NOK 165 for seniors 65 and over, NOK 155 for students and NOK 50 for children aged 7 to 16, with under-7s free. From 1 October to 30 April the adult price drops to NOK 115 and the child price to NOK 40, because the carvings lie under snow and only the indoor exhibitions can be seen. The museum is open now on winter hours, weekdays 9 to 15 and weekends 11 to 16. To see the carvings themselves, come between June and mid-September, and check ahead, as parts of the footpath can close in late summer.
