Glacier boat trips from Longyearbyen need ice-free fjords, so the season ends in October. Svalbard Adventures' Glacier Safari by RIB, which ran from mid- June to 30 September, costs NOK 2650 for adults and NOK 1805 for children under 15, with a minimum age of 10. The six hours include hotel transfers, a flotation suit, an armed guide, rescue insurance and lunch. The quieter option still sailing now, until 14 October, is the hybrid catamaran MS Bard to Billefjorden and the Nordenskiold Glacier: 6.5 hours at NOK 2995, with no age limit and lentil soup included. Svalbard has no VAT, and you cannot leave Longyearbyen on your own without polar bear protection, so a guided tour is the practical way to reach the glaciers.
