What to know
Important: Skyrail is mid-way through an A$85 million rebuild and the full Smithfield to Kuranda cableway is not running. Until 1 November 2026 it operates only a one-hour loop between Kuranda terminal and Barron Falls, five days a week Wednesday to Sunday, boarding between 10am and 3.30pm, with shuttle buses covering Smithfield to Kuranda. The loop costs roughly A$41 for adults and A$20.50 for children. Normal full-route service resumes in November 2026, when the standard return fare is A$111 for adults and A$55.50 for children aged 4 to 14, one way A$74 and A$37, or A$138 and A$82.50 with return Cairns city coach transfers. Infants under 4 travel free but still need a booking. A further Kuranda line closure is scheduled for July to November 2027.
