What to know

Jewel Cave is a guided tour on set departures, not a walk-in, so book ahead. Entry is A$26 adult aged 17 and over, A$13 child aged 4 to 16, A$24 for seniors 65 and over, and free for under 4s. There is no family ticket and, despite what third-party sites claim, the operator does not sell a multi-cave or multi-site pass, so visiting Lake Cave or Mammoth Cave as well means buying each separately at A$26 and A$25 adult. The tour runs an hour and involves about 250 stairs, so a reasonable level of fitness is needed. Open daily 9am to 5pm with last entry at 4pm, closed Christmas Day. All three southern caves are currently operating.
