Flor og Fjaere is a privately owned family garden on the island of Sor-Hidle, and a pre-booked package is the only way to visit. It includes a 20-minute boat ride from Bekhuskaien in Stavanger, a guided garden tour of about 40 minutes and a three-course dinner, about five hours in all. Adults pay NOK 1990 Monday to Friday and NOK 2290 on Saturdays. Children up to 12 pay NOK 1090, including a children's menu, and infants without a meal pay NOK 290. Drinks other than coffee or tea cost extra, and boats sail Monday to Saturday only. The 2026 season ran from 9 May to 19 September, so the garden is closed now and reopens on 8 May 2027.

The planner warns of freezing in January, February, December. Outside those months it says nothing, which is the point — a warning that fires every day is one nobody reads.
Short days. Stavanger & Lysefjord gives under 6 hours of daylight in December.
