No admission charge for anyone. Parking or transport may still cost.
Queensland charges no day entry fee for its national parks, so walking onto K'gari or arriving on a guided day tour costs nothing in park fees. Driving yourself is where the money goes, and the charges are not per person. A vehicle access permit is A$61.80 per vehicle for a month or less, or A$311 for up to a year, with a combined K'gari and Cooloola permit at A$99.25. The vehicle barge, run by Island Connections, is also charged per vehicle: A$205 return off-peak or A$230 in peak for a standard four-wheel drive up to six metres, covering the vehicle only, with A$7 for each person aboard. Camping is per person, at A$7.75 a night or A$31 for a family, and under 5s camp free. Check park alerts, as tracks close often.
